I was commissioned to work with a group of gifted and talented year 9 students to generate ideas for possible designs for public art for the new school building at The Ridings Federation Winterbourne International Academy. With my help, the students came up with a wide range of fabulous ideas, several of which included crowd sourcing input from their peers to make the designs as inclusive as possible. Ultimately two of their ideas were chosen by Senior Management to be developed into print ready vector designs. One of these was this 15 metre long wall paper panel to go in the school atrium above the dining area. The highly detailed design includes images and information about, among other things, epic voyages of discovery, great ocean migrations and ocean currents – all things the students wanted to know about the oceans of the World. The visual aesthetic is highly influenced by designs drawn by the students during the original development stage.
