I really value the variety of my working week – I might be drawing a house commission on Monday, taking photos for a panorama on Tuesday, framing work on Wednesday, laser cutting on Thursday and screenprinting on Friday. What more could you want?
I fell in love with the coloured terraces when I first moved to Bristol and they feature in many of my drawings. More recently the boats of the harbourside seem to be clamouring to be drawn.
My laser cut flowers are a celebration of my 70’s childhood and are a development of the ideas I started exploring when I painted ‘Groovy Baby’ for ‘Shaun in the City’. I would love to have the opportunity to fill a huge wall with entirely with orange and brown flowers!
In 2015 I completed an MA in Multidiciplinary Print at UWE. Having fallen in love with being back in education, I am now studying for an MA in Design. If you would like to see my geological inspired screenprints that have resulted from all this studying, please visit www.emilyk.co.uk
